This so easily could 've five stars, but just a few hiccups along the way. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly though very busy looking waitress, who invited us to sit anywhere we would like. The restaurant is set up with some low tables a the front and a bar unvtge back with son high top tables parallel with the bar . We sat at one ofthe high tops and after about five minutes were presented with menus. The cocktail menu is interesting and varied and our drinks were well mixed and served quickly. When looking at the menu there are several specials that Said ask server..... So we did, at this point the young lady looked a little panicked and said the other server had taken her list so she would have to go and get it! About 10 minutes later she reappeared, again very friendly, but with no apology for the delay. We ordered mussels and the braised pork belly as appetizers and then a risotto and the Kurobota pork chop for entrees. When the appetizers were brought to the table, the server said she would bring back plates, but they didn't appear..... So we ate right off the serving plates. Now here is the five star piece, the food is FANTASTIC!! The pork belly was perfectly cooked with a great chimuchurri accompanying it and the mussels were properly cleaned and the broth was delicious, although no bread to sip up the juices seemed strange.... Just as we were finishing, our server came back then remebered the plates and bread!! Oh well, she was still really friendly. The entrees arrived, and again were really good. The pork chop dish I would drive many miles to have again, it was perfect. The risotto, so often a tripping point was delicious and was well cooked. We were then asked about dessert, which we said yes we would look at. The server did not come back for about 10 minutes, and when she surveys brought the check!!! Well I guess we didn't want dessert! So overall , fabulous food, great atmosphere, and friendly but poor service. Fix the service and this is one of the best places in Ft.Collins.

The meal was expensive for what I received. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was easy on the eyes and laid out well. Staff was prompt and friendly. I felt my wife and I should have received more wine for the 'glass' price listed; about a 1/4. My wife's lasagna was burnt at one end making it difficult to cut. In addition, we've had better lasagna; seem light and fruity. My gnocchi was hard in such a way, I believe it was bought at Trader Joe's and cooked in boiling water. The gnocchi dish lacked depth and character. I'm getting disappointed with more of the restaurants in Fort Collins, which I mostly don't review. Having located from Southern California, I'm spoiled with Italians making a gnocchi dish and lasagna all from scratch with generous proportions. So if you want to sit at the bar and have a drink, this maybe the place for you to unwind. But looking for that top notch Italian dish experience, I'm unable to recommend any as of yet in Fort Collins.

Had lunch here on a recent trip to Ft. Collins. It was good. Sat on the patio to take advantage of the beautiful day. There only seemed to be one person working the patrons--the hostess/waitress--so service was a little slow. Not bad, just a little slow. The food was good. Everyone liked their meals. I had the sale with pulled chicken, which was pretty good. Probably would not order it again though.

Excellent food. Laid back local restaurant Close to hotel - thanks Yelp. Kurabuta bone-in pork chop was great, as was side salad, cocktails and wine selection. All very reasonably priced for an independent shop - glad I have a new customer in the area and hope to be back as much as possible

Domenic's is above and beyond many of the restaurants found in south Fort Collins. A locally owned restaurant, it never ceases to delight. Their happy hour is decent with many drinks, beer & wine to choose from, as well as small bite appetizers. The flavors never disappoint! My favorite dishes here are the scallops, the house salad (greens with a light lemon Olive oil, candied sliced almonds & tomatoes), the shrimp and grits and the pizza. It can, on occasion, be a bit slow due to the small kitchen size, but I've never had a meal here I didn't enjoy. The patio in the summer is always nice, too!

The braciole was very tender and tasty. I tried my partners gnocchi and was happy to find a restaurant that makes their own finally! The boxed stuff is nasty. We were sad that they were out of chocolate souffle for dessert, but their marscapone cheesecake was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had.

This is the most under-appreciated restaurant in Fort Collins! Oh my god...the mascarpone cheesecake with candied almonds and a lemon cream sauce... Seriously please go here and support them; it will be your new favorite (secret) gem in Fort Collins!!!!

Enjoyed a delicious meal with the family here. Great crab cake appetizer. They have gluten-free options, as well as high quality meats. The pork chops and NY strip were perfectly prepared. Caesar salad was also exemplary. Service was also outstanding. A little hard to find, as part of a big outdoor suburban mall, but worth finding!

This place is seriously THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT in Fort Collins! My husband and I found it quietly tucked away in a strip of shops while doing errands on a Friday night. Although the place was packed, they were able to seat us within 20 minutes and served us very attentively throughout the meal. We began our meals with two appetizers. I ordered the scallops for my appetizer, which came with three scallops and three sauces to accompany each scallop (the sauces were an apple chutney, a butternut squash puree, and a caramelized onion sauce). It was simply delicious! The scallops were cooked very nicely, and the three separate sauces guaranteed that the palate had not become familiar with the flavors by the time the dish was completed. By husband had their beef carpaccio for his appetizer, which came in a generous portion size and was quite good. For my entrée, I had their ahi tuna special, which was a generous sized piece of lightly seared sashimi grade ahi tuna, seasoned with a pepper crust and served over homemade pesto and tomatoes. The dish had a very good flavor to it, and my only complaint was that the meat itself was either cut improperly or not truly sashimi grade, since I had to stop many times throughout the meal to pull large pieces of connective tissue from the tuna. My husband ordered their filet special, which was served in a marsala sauce with mushrooms. Their marsala sauce was probably the best marsala I have ever tasted, it had a savory flavor to it and was not overly sweet like most marsala sauces. My husbands only complaint was that the meat itself was a little too salty, but he hates any hint of salt; so-much-so that I no longer use it in any of my cooking. For dessert, we had their key lime pie. None of that store bought stuff here! Homemade graham cracker crust, a delicious key lime flavor in the pie, and some blackberries for accompaniment. My only complaint is that this was a dessert special, meaning I can not order it whenever I want! This place has amazing food, a great atmosphere, and an attentive staff. We will definitely be back!

This place is probably the best surprise in Fort Collins; despite it's location, it never disappoints. Although sometimes a little pricey, the food is always delicious and the staff is great. If you go in enough to become a regular, the staff will remember you and treat you like the local you are. The menu changes frequently enough for you to always try something new. The duck confit is a personal fave, but whatever you do do not miss the made-to-order chocolate soufflé!

The service here has always been horrible. But I would go for a couple things that I really liked on the menu here and there. One night I decided to stop there and get a piece of cheesecake to go. It was 9:45, they were open until midnight. One of the waitresses told me the kitchen had already been closed so they couldn't get me anything. There were two tables in the restaurant eating their dinner. So I guess she was telling me they wouldn't offer those tables currently dining dessert afterwards? And I wasn't asking them to cook me anything, just to get me a piece of premade cheescake, put it in a box, let me pay for it and leave. So within the next couple days I called and asked to speak to a manager or an owner. They took my name and phone number to pass on to the owner or manager and of course I never heard a thing from them. That was the last straw for me , I haven't been back and I will never go back.

2.5 stars really. The Husband and I came here last night for dinner. We're out of towners and are staying in Fort Collins for a few nights. Domenic's looked interesting enough and we're all about trying out "hidden gems" and non chainy restaurants. But after dinner last night we were stumped as to how this place is a 4 star here on Yelp. The ambiance and decor were great and I give that aspect 5 stars! But other than that, this place is so average. I'm sorry, but everything was forgettable. They were understaffed, so the hostess was the waitress too, and the poor girl was running around ragged. The bartender also had to deliver food. There were tables without their drinks and I could hear some people getting annoyed. Another waitress would have helped tremendously. We were told Sundays are usually quiet...but not that night! Anyhow, on to the food...we ordered drinks and the crab cake appetizer, the crab cakes came out literally like 3 minutes later. Before the drinks even made it to the table! The crab cakes clearly weren't fresh. They looked like they were made way before hand and just nuked to warm them up, which they were barely warm....At least they had decent flavor. The garlic aioli sauce that came with it was pretty overpowering, but whatev. My Husband ordered the tomato basil bisque and he loved it. Said it was the best part of the meal. For entrees, I ordered the sausage Bolognese and the Husband ordered the pulled chicken salad. He said the flavors didn't mesh well and he was just eating to get full......my pasta, flavor wise was decent, but the noodles tasted old and the sauce tasted a little stale and microwaved. Maybe it would've tasted better hot?? Everything was just blah and luke warm...We were hungry so we didn't complain. The only thing that made me smile about this place is the fact that they had my favorite key lime pie martini on their drink menu, and it wasn't bad. Even though they seemed a bit understaffed on the wait staff, I just don't feel that's what contributed to the mediocre food. We won't be returning, it just wasn't good enough.

Four of us met here to talk and catch up on things. Interesting menu. Located in a strip mall in south-central Fort Collins, they were moderately busy on a Friday evening. Good bar selection for those who like a beer or wine with their meal. The inside seating was OK, but the AC was on maximum and the music too loud, so we set outside, where even it too was a bit loud after it filled up. Our caesar salad and risotto were good, but not excellent. A BBQ pizza was quite good. Bread, at this Italian restaurant, was extra . . . since when should you expect to pay for bread to go with your salad or entree??? Overall, the pricing was a bit on the high side. Will probably try another Italian restaurant in this area next.

I've been to Domenic's several times over the last few years, mostly for wine flights and/or a dessert after having dinner elsewhere. I have probably had dinner there too, just nothing was very memorable. That is to say, until we ate there last night. We had just finished working a 3-hour wine event and were FAMISHED. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs...but we have plenty of leftovers which is a GREAT thing. We started with the Seared 3-ways appetizer ($13) which was pretty good. My boyfriend will order scallops almost every time if they're on the menu so he has come to have a strong opinion about what makes an excellent scallop. Domenic's scallops were pretty good. They were only lightly seared so they were missing that perfect caramelized crunchiness but they were hot, tender and flavorful. The three additions to the scallops were...interesting. Our favorite was the caramelized onions; delicious. The butternut squash puree was served cold (weird?) but it was tasty. The only weird one was the apple chutney which pretty much tasted like apple pie filling. Too sweet. We also ordered the Prosciutto and White Truffle mac & cheese ($12). First of all, it was a BIG serving - could easily be an entree. It was tasty - but it was the one item we both agreed we shouldn't have ordered because 1.) we simply had too much food and 2.) it wasn't AS GOOD AS the other things we ordered. I personally LOVE truffle oil but I also think the nuance of it has been lost; it's often overdone and overused. The chef went heavy on the truffle oil with this one. Probably wouldn't order this one again. Ohhhh, then the culinary heavens opened up and our pizza was delivered. This was the best part of my night (and did I mention that I had spent the previous three hours drinking and serving wine?! - hands down, this pizza wins out). We ordered the 16" White Lightning pizza ($22 - the smaller size is $18, more than twice the pizza for only $4...just a heads up) and we added spinach, Italian sausage and artichoke hearts. You guys. This pizza was a religious experience. The crust is crisp and buttery, not limp or soggy. The combination of mozzarella and feta was perfection. It was perfectly garlicky and just a hint of spice from the sausage. I was so disappointed that I had eaten too much of the prosciutto mac & cheese so I was too full to have more than one slice of this amazing pie. It's sitting in my fridge - and I'll just say that I'm pretty excited for lunch.

I came here because of the great Yelp reviews. I ordered the appetizer scallops (3 ct) and the shrimp and grits which both items were really yummy!!! As usual, my eyes are often bigger than my stomach especially when I skipped lunch so I couldn't finish my shrimp and grits entree even though I my mind is totally willing. BTW, the shrimp and grits entree has great flavor --- nothing better than light fluffy cheesy grits, accompanied by a variety of cut fresh mushrooms, asparagus, tomatoes, and bacon, and then topped off with a generous drizzle of a very light cream sauce. Delish!!!!

I've been here several times now and the food is really good, they are just a little pricey. The mussels are outstanding though and so is the cheesecake (even though I don't eat that cookie thing at the bottom).

I'm embarrassed to say that after living in Fort Collins for over 10 years, this is the first time I've dined at Domenics. I am SO sad that I have waited this long! The service was awesome! Wonderful server, very attentive, and engaging. My shrimp and grits was honestly the best meal I have had in, perhaps, forever!!! My husband had the pork chop and said it was by far one of the best things he had eaten in a very long time. I am going to be a regular now and spread the word!

Domenics is kind of in an odd spot being in strip mall and all. One would think it would be better suited in Oldtown. I wonder if this hurts their business being where they are at? It doesnt seem to. Domenics is a place that has a nice, soothing atmosphere where you can go with friends and just kick back and have a glass of wine or one of the local breweries beer off the tap. Domenics seems like a place where you go to drink mainly. Sure, they serve plenty of food here but it seems best suited to be eaten as a snack instead of a full course meal since the portions are relatively small and fairly expensive for what you get. I had the raviolis here and while I thought they tasted great I left fairly hungry still. I like eating places best that have good portion control where you leave just right and not overfull or still starving.

For being a single diner, it was extremely welcoming and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Awesome staff and the food was delicious. Try the shrimp and grits!

Mingling of superb people always, food exceptional, Ryan is spot on as usual, wait staff have such a pleasant combined presentation that I can hardly concentrate, but then I stumble onto the Peppadew and mingling takes on a whole new exquisite meaning.

I'm getting proven wrong time and time again about the quality of the food in Ft Collins restaurants. This little and unassuming joint is tucked in between a randon outdoor shop and something else in a strip mall that faces the wrong way from traffic, but it is doing everything right inside. Ryan, the bartender who's been there since day one (10 years ago!) was great. Friendly, just enough chatter and johnny on the spot with the wine, water and my meal. I had a couple glasses of the Sensual Malbec, it was decent for $8/glass. My entree was incredible. I had the Sausage Bolognese and I couldn't help contain my "Ahhhhs" and "Mmmmms" - I'm sure I sounded like a lunatic. Great balance of flavors, huge chunks of sausage and good noodles. Too bad they don't make their own pasta - that would put this place way up on top. The Parmesan cheese was grated so finely that it was transparent. So incredibly tasty, I have to find out how they did that. The greeting I got when I came in was a little weird - a "So do you want to eat something?" was what the young gal said to me. I guess they don't get a lot of people eating alone in FoCo. The space is very small so I imagine it gets crowded during Friday HH. Plenty of parking though. Recommended!

While staying in FoCo recently, I was craving good Italian fare. Checked out Yelp and found Domenics had many good reviews. Though it was across town from where I was staying, I just had to find out for myself if it was good or not. After driving around in the dark, and following the Google map directions, I finally located in the Kohl's shopping center. Parking was a breeze. Being a Thursday night after 7, I found it wasn't busy at all. There were a few other customers inside, and I was seated quickly. My waiter was new and got some of the info for the special a little wrong, but it didn't matter. I ordered the fish special which he said came with broccolini, rice, and a pesto cream sauce. I asked if I could substitute pasta with marinara sauce for the rice, as I was so tired of eating rice recently. He said there would be an up charge but was sure it could be done. I was quickly given 4 slices of Italian white bread with a spicy olive oil sauce drizzled on top. This was great, as I was really hungry and wasn't ordering anything to drink. I scarfed them up quickly while I read and waited for my main dish. When the main dish came, my waiter said there would be no up charge for the pasta substitution. The meal was wonderful, though more expensive than I was expecting. I would have thought maybe around $25, but it was was $38, before I tipped. Next time I'll ask for the price before hand. The service was very good, but then it wasn't all that busy. Think I'll try it for Happy Hour next time I'm there.

It's tough to be a wine bistro in beer-centric Fort Collins. Furthermore, when the heart of the restaurant offerings are in vintage Old Town, one might be quick to dismiss Domenics at first glance. Rest assured, this hidden gem is a delight for those who enjoy spending time in their dining experience and who crave an interesting and varied menu. The wine offerings by Domenic's are always delightful - a flight offers the chance to try several at an affordable price. The servers and bartenders have always been knowledgeable about the wines (and in the one instance where the waitress was unable to answer my questions, I received a free sample!). Domenics also offers the standard beer and cocktail offerings, but most would agree Domenics shines in their wine offerings. With regards to the food, I have always had excellent meals, whether it be a salad (the candied almonds in the house salad are incredible), a brick oven pizza, a risotto, or filet creation of the day. I for one really appreciate the Italian inspiration that doesn't seem patronizing or cliche. Also, the complimentary bread is delightful! The atmosphere at Domenics is very casual, with just the smallest hint of posh. It is a perfect setting for a first date, and it has been my go-to on a number of such occasions. I do think that it functions better for couples/adult groups more than a family environment (though, this could be the selfish single twenty-something in me!), but it should be noted that Domenics does have a kids menu! I think Domenics offers a great counterpoint to the Old Town scene with some offerings not offered elsewhere in Fort Collins - give it a shot, you won't regret it!

Always a pleasure to drop in and have a meal or drink. A small place, that can be quite loud at times, but generally a nice neighborhood restaurant for the adults to get away.

The first time I tasted what Domenic's had to offer was at The TASTE benefit while live tweeting for the organization. Strolling along with my friend and fellow writer, Lara, who writes Adventures Of A Happy Eater, we stopped by their booth to try the beef carpaccio they were serving. It was the best thing I ate there the entire night. Domenic's had been on my "to review" list for a long time, but after that bite, it shot up as a top priority. Upon my visit to the restaurant, I ordered the same thing. The beef carpaccio with truffle oil, minced red onions, capers and toast points was just as amazing as the servings I sampled at The TASTE. The bread was a little more than "toasted" on some slices, but I just pushed those aside and scooped up fork-fulls of the salty, savory slices of beef. I wished there was more of this dish to enjoy as well. You know you're eating great food when you're disappointed that it will end after a few bites.

I would have voted 5 stars for the food, but the service killed it. The servers were just unhappy and droll. Food was killer, too bad the staff sucks.

Great place for the Wife and I to grab a glass of wine and chat on Friday nights. Casual atmosphere with a upper scale decor. She says it's "cozy" and I like the great service. We'll see you Friday!

I recently went to Domenic's for the first time. Ordered the 'Seafood Pasta' for $17 and a glass of red. This was on a weeknight, so the dining room wasn't packed. So I expected to get my meal quickly. Wrong answer. 35 minutes later, my server brought me the pasta, but I was disappointed to find just 1 or 2 shrimp with a few mussels in my 'Seafood Pasta.' When I asked my server WTF was going on, she said, "Well shrimp and mussels are expensive. This is the portion." What a rip off. There are plenty of good Italian joints in Fort Collins. Domenic's isn't one of them. I'll never eat there again. And I certainly won't recommend it to anyone.

  • Nick S.

Not really impressed. My dish was sodium laden, and therefore no bueno. The dessert I shared with my wife was a marscapone cheesecake. This was very nice and light, sweet but nor overpoweringly so. We would come back for the cheesecake alone, too bad their main was not as impressive.

Wow. I wish this place were near my home. Everything about it impressed me - including the way they dressed up a, shall I say, challenged location. The atmosphere was fantastic, right down to the chic-dressed staff and the appropriately quiet yet energetic keyboardist/vocalist playing. The bartender was very friendly, and made me feel very comfortable with good conversation (I was there alone). I started with a side house salad, which was simple and fantastic - the candied almonds were a nice touch. Followed with the Salmon dinner, which was perfectly cooked and with a fantastic flavor. For dessert, I had to have the souffle after seeing a few others nearby get it, and it did not disappoint. They let you know it takes 20-30 minutes to prepare, but anyone who has had a well made souffle - which this certainly was - would be willing to wait if they're not in a rush. All of this, for very reasonable prices - a place like this in Boston would be so full of itself and overpriced that you would only go for special occasions, if at all. I wish I could speak on their wine selection, which looked quite good, but I cannot drink at the moment so it was just a tease to me unfortunately. If I could put this place in my pocket and take it home to central Mass, I most certainly would!

I cant say anything about the food, we waited 15 min no service, then 20 minutes after ordering our drinks (without them coming) we decided to leave. This was during lunch when it really was not that busy. No restaurant can afford bad service in a down economy. I can be sure that I will NEVER go back.

  • Brian G.

I've been to Domenic's a few times now and would say that it may be one of the hidden treasures of the Harmony Rd area. The food has impressed each time. While I understand that many have complained about the "no substitution" policy, I rather commend that this establishment respects the chefs that much. Given the quality of the menu, I wouldn't think it would be difficult to find something that meets the needs of most palates. The drinks have been well-made and there is a good selection available. Great atmosphere and one where you can typically hear the conversation at your table without great difficulty.

  • Tam T.

I'm sure Domenic's is great if your visit goes well. If the food's great, which I don't doubt most of the time, and the service is fine, then you'll have a good time and might even write a good review somewhere. They have a good wine list, it's a cute place, and the staff seems nice. But watch out if you have any problems. I had a risotto there the other night that was crunchy and obviously undercooked, so I politely asked the server to take it back. Who wants to pay $12 for a tiny plate of risotto that's crunchy? Well, that seemed like the worst thing that I could've done to them. Like they've never gotten any complaints before. Well, when it came back it was at least hotter, and slightly more cooked, but still chewy and not risotto-y. I just couldn't justify paying that much for something I couldn't eat, so I asked to speak to the manager. I'm very nice and I apologize for making a fuss, but this is not the way risotto should be. I'm told that I'm wrong, but "everyone has their own tastes". He takes it away and we receive the bill a few minutes later, but the risotto is still on there. Yep, I was charged for food that I didn't even eat. Thanks Domenic's, for nothing. We would've come back and given you another chance. We liked your pizza, and your desserts sound like a good idea, but man did you blow it with us. I work in a restaurant, so I know what its like to have to have to deal with the other side of this coin. We weren't rude or demanding, but that shouldn't mean that we have to pay for sub standard food. Good customer service is all about hospitality and they need to work on that a bit.

Nice combination of great service, great Italian with local brews and a great bar. Neighborhood favorite if you live in South Fort Collins...Sorrento is tops for pasta and Braciole is unique and delicious. Stella on tap, or go for a local from Odell's or Poteros Creek (tap). Not a big place....

Dont let the strip mall fool you, This place has an awseome cosy but hip atmosphere and the food is fantastic. Highly recomend the bruchetta, Mussels, and the Prosciutto mac with white truffel oil is crazy good. Service is all about the server as it is with any place so find one you like and stick with them.

  • Lisa O.

Don't let the strip mall location fool you! This is one of my very favorite spots to linger with a glass of wine (or a flight!) on a cold night. Seriously, I freaking love wine flights and Domenic's are awesome. I've tried the Pinot, Cabernet and Spanish flights and each has been interesting and tasty. I can't speak for much of the food, but everything I've had has perfected the balance between delicate and hearty and has always been flavorful. The atmosphere is one of the best in Fort Collins, welcoming and cozy and just a little bit sleek. It's the place you go to spend hours nursing your wine and catching up with old friends.

Family dinner out on a Saturday when all the favorite restaurants are slammed. We decided to check out "Domenic's" in FoCo, as I had been there for lunch with friends the day before. We were seated immediately, and received fast attention from our server. I ordered a Patron margarita, which was quite tasty, my husband had a signature dirty martini. The menu offers quite a selection, including 3 specials, and it took a few minutes to make our selections. I chose shrimp and grits, which turned out to be the best I ever had. Our son had the generously portioned lasagna, and my husband had the ahi tuna special. We were all very pleased with our meals. Our server was very attentive, the owner stopped by the table to make sure everything was going well, and Domenic refilled our water glasses. Our experience was positive and enjoyable and we will definitely be back for dinner again soon.
